As designers, we should notice when our products are being built additively. We should step back from that single feature design and ask how it fits the overall vision and structure.
When we add a feature, we're trading attention and traffic from another feature. Every addition can potentially add noise. Sometimes we should make a trade-off, and other times, we should say no, that a new feature or field doesn't make sense as part of the holistic user experience. That intuition, empathy and expertise make design valuable.
