Prioritize your design efforts so that you’re satisfying all baseline requirements first. Then AND ONLY THEN can you move on to fancier things like custom illustrations and animation.

No one cares what color the stitching is on the leather seats of your fancy concept car if it doesn’t even have wheels yet.

UX activities
  • The product backlog contains the pieces of the broader vision that are not going to be worked on in the current sprint. High-level items, vision, and many assumptions live here.
  • Sprint planning is the day-to-day level planning effort for the team.
  • The tactical Design work has to go into the tactical backlog — the sprint backlog — and is then executed by designers, primarily, but also in collaboration with the rest of the scrum team.
  • Sprint review is an opportunity to take a look, together as a team, at the output the team generated during the sprint.

Pixel art is an art medium, like gouache, oil painting, pencil, sculpture or its close cousin mosaic.

To make good pixel art you need to be able to make good drawings. In general, this means studying anatomy, perspective, light and shadow, colour theory and even art history.

Loading animations: 101

In a perfect world, loading animation should:

  • Be shown to the user as least as possible.
  • If you can make your tool or site work fast enough, that will be perfect. O
  • Give time estimation. It can be a simple message of approximate time to wait or visual representation of work done.
  • Explain why the user needs to wait.
  • Make the waiting process less frustrating.
  • Reduce a user’s perception of waiting time. It can be a catchy color combination, interesting or cute idea.
  • Emphasize branding and company voice. Make loading experience consistent with your brand voice.
