What Does Mature Skin Mean? Is It Really A Skin Type?

Mature skin is not a skin type yet is often referred to as one.

What age is mature skin?

It depends. Mature skin can be 35 or 40 or 60+ years old. Extrinsic aging happens at different times for each of us since a lot of factors affect it. I’m talking about genetics and lifestyle.

Photoaging — the premature skin aging caused by the sun — makes 80% of facial wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, and saggy skin. This is why sunscreen is non-negotiable all year round.

Diet, exercising, stress levels, hormones, and skincare, all influence at what age skin is mature.
