According to the Oxford Dictionary, self-discovery is: 'the process of acquiring insight into one's own character', which can be done in a multitude of ways, but I think the easiest one of all is by asking yourself a few questions and answering them honestly, without judgement: it's just like you're getting to know someone new, instead that person is you!
