Concept of Pigments - Deepstash

Concept of Pigments

Pigment is a kind of colored fine particle powdery material, which is generally insoluble in water and can be dispersed in various media such as oil, solvent and resin. It has covering power, coloring power, and is relatively stable to light. It is often used to prepare paints, inks, and coloring plastics and rubber, so it can also be called a colorant.

Pigments differ from dyes in that general dyes are soluble in water, while pigments are generally insoluble in water. Dyes are mainly used for dyeing textiles and other materials.
