It's easy to get frustrated when a loved one keeps damaging themselves. This frustration can make us guilt-tripping them. But shaming someone seldom works.

When it doesn't work, we may start to make excuses for them to explain their problem away. This won't help either.

A cold day or month or even a year doesn't mean the climate is not heating up. However, a changing climate can make certain extreme events more likely. Climate change will make heavy rainfall even heavier, and heatwaves hotter and more frequent.

The halo effect influences how you judge others. Just because someone has a single positive trait doesn't mean you should form a favourable opinion of them. Conversely, just because they have a single negative quality doesn't mean you should form a negative impression.
