Get An Idea

Write down everything you do in the first three steps in a blank sheet. Sometimes, that blank sheet turns out to be a good note but if not, then make notes by reading through small bits of information & also that blank sheet to make perfect notes.There are many formats to make those perfect notes, one of them is Flashcards. Short, concise & fun! Another is mind maps, charts, linear (usually not recommended)

Re-read and highlight the things you didn't understand after following the above two steps.

Repetition

Imagine whatever you just read! If you can't imagine, then try to summarise it vaguely. After that, make a mind map

Impression

After getting an idea about the book, just read it. Don't try to force yourself to understand things, just read with FOCUS.

Superficial Reading

The more the field of view, the more words you can read at a time. So, try to improve your peripheral vision

Don't expect yourself to read faster or retain everything. Don't pressurise yourself that you have to read a lot of stuff. Just read. For fun. As a Hobby.

Take The Pressure Off

1. Use a tracker such as a pen or your own finger to read and also move your head more than your eyes when you read the lines2. When you start reading a new line, don't read the first three words. When you're done reading the line, don't read the last three words.

Read For Speed

Instead of focusing on the words, focus on the whitespace just above the line so that you can only be able to focus on keywords.

Link the text to something you are already familiar with. Maybe experiences, real-life situations, etc.
