Tone
One thing to note as a person is how you sound when you talk. It's better talking face to face rather than texting because of tone. Tone matters a lot. You could tell someone:
"Your coat looks nice"
And that person could perceive that as either being genuine or sarcastic, depending on your tone.
Be mindful of your tone and how you sound, and that will make you a better person in general.
Also keep in mind that other people may say something rude, but it might not be intentional. If they aren't blatantly insulting you, try giving them the benefit of the doubt.
