We all do things on impulse. We might buy a magazine, go to the movies, or take a day trip just because we suddenly feel like it. Acting on impulse once in a while is relatively harmless. When impulses guide our behavior too often, however, we lose the ability to plan for the future. If we get in the habit of following our impulses, we can even do self- destructive things that we will regret later
