Bimarastan Fez (Sidi Frej) in Morroco was built in 1286 AD by Sultan Yusuf ibn Ya’qub (Banu Marin) to treat patients with depression, using music therapy, herbs, and spices. It also served as a sanctuary for the mentally ill.
