Emotional Isolation in Relationships

Looking at the short-term effects of inequality in relationships, it doesn't seem to do much harm as it often increases sexual desire.

However, unequal relationships will soon be laced with contempt, leading to divorce and extramarital affairs for both partners.

Success means building strong relationships. Creating a wealth of social and romantic relationships hinges on the ability to meet people and connect with them in a meaningful manner. And living without regular social contact is as unhealthy as smoking cigarettes.

Being dependent on another person can be unhealthy. Independence, taken to an extreme, can actually get in the way of us being able to connect emotionally with others in a meaningful way.
