The author, of course, gives numerous examples of people the techniques he mentions have worked for.
But from personal experience as well as that of those around me, it is either the methods are not truly valid or some people just don't believe enough or don't want sound health bad enough, which is not true, at least not all the time.
(I'm actually yet to meet a sick person who does not desire to be better)
