4. Take Responsibility

Take ownership of your own actions and their consequences to gain the respect of other people.

Indirect responsibility involves moving beyond yourself to take necessary action to help other people.  

Some people are so thin-skinned that they think everyone is offending them when it's nothing personal. Other people are objectively treated like dirt everywhere because they're doing something to prompt that punishment.

We've got to take responsibility.

... for what happens to you. It’s tempting to blame your problems on some external factor, but to fix your problems you must have power over them. You can’t have power over aspects of your life unless you take responsibility for them.
