Later that night, the head of the village had a dream where Lord Shani directed him to make a shrine under his name and in return, he would protect the village from any ill or harm under the pretext that it should have any roof so he could guard it. So, this was passed on and the village still follows this.

any of the giant, coastal trees in Northern California are called sequoias. Because it was sturdy and thick, the wood served as a “beam” to yoke “horned” beasts of burden. Of course, some kept it more simple and called this tree ironwood.

The ancient Norse people believed the first woman was created from a rowan tree. Norse mythology also featured rowan trees in a story about the Norse god Thor. According to the legend, rowan trees once saved Thor’s life by bending over a fast-flowing river to help him escape the Underworld.

Magnolia trees grow throughout North America, and they’re known for their stunning white and pink flowers. But the name of this tree and its flowers was actuated by a person. The magnolia was named for Pierre Magnol, a French botanist who is credited with creating the first classifications of different plant families.

ou might know the Ponderosa pine as the state tree of Montana. It’s a large Western yellow pine, but its unique name has a surprisingly simple explanation. The tree’s scientific name is pinus Ponderosa. Translated from New Latin, it literally means “heavy pine.”

The Nyssa tree is native to Missouri, though its name comes from somewhere else. Nyssa, or Nysa, is one of the Nysaean water nymphs in Greek mythology. She came from the mountainous region of the same name, where the God Zeus sent his infant son, Dionysus, to try to protect him from the wrath of Hera. The Nyssa tree is found in low, wet wooded areas, hence its name’s association with water.

*First difference*On the occasion of 15 August Independence Day, the flag is pulled up from the bottom by a rope, then unfurled, which is called flag hoisting because it is done to honor the historical event of 15 August 1947 when The Prime Minister did this. In the constitution it is called Flag Hoisting in English. whereasOn the occasion of 26 January Republic Day, the flag remains tied at the top, which is unfurled, in the constitution it is called Flag Unfurling.

What is the difference between hoisting the flag on Independence

*second difference* On August 15, the Prime Minister, who is the head of the central government, hoists the flag, because the Constitution of India did not come into force on the day of independence and the President, who is the constitutional head of the nation, did not take office. In the evening of this day, the President gives his message to the nation. whereas 26 January, which is celebrated to commemorate the implementation of the Constitution in the country, on this day the constitutional head hoists the Presidential flag.

Making historyIn 2016, Sikkim was recognised as the "first organic state in the world and crime-free state with the best governance" by the World Book of Record London.The government of Sikkim stepped into the organic mission process in 2003, the year when it stopped imports of chemical fertiliser in the state.

World's First "ORGANIC STATE SIKKIM"

With the green revolution in the 1960s, India increased its crop production and the use of chemical fertilisers and pesticides increased simultaneously. This affected agriculture along with water, air and land. Recognising its adverse impact on the environment, sikkim promoted organic farming.

TACKING THE PROBLEM 

Organic farming makes ise of cow dung, compost manure, green manure, bio pesticides, earthworm manure, neem came, lemongrass, fruit residues, and bacterial culture.The use of organic and fossil fertiliser instead of chemicals and insecticides keeps the soil fertile and reduces the risk of droughts.

A GREENER WAY OF FARMING

To make Sikkim an organic state, organic practices were implemented on around 75,000 hectares of agricultural land. In this action plan, the Sikkim government prohibited the use of chemical fertilisers and pesticides. The violation of this law could lead to imprisonment of 3 months including a fine of 1 lakh.

THE ROAD OF ORGANIC 

The government initiated partnerships with many agricultural R&D organisations in the country and overseas including biological research from Switzerland.Organic farming was done on 8,35,000 hectares of land in Sikkim, whicb benefited about 4,00,000 farmers.

SETTING AN EXAMPLE 

The state government adopted villages to convert them into bio- villages.People were made aware of organic fertilisers and organic manutmre was made available to all. In addition, nutrition management, techniques, pest management, and laboratories for farming were also introduced.

BIO- VILLAGE

In 2018, Sikkim was honoured by The United Nation's Fertiliser and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) with an Oscar Award for its best policies to acquire 100% organic farming

India ranks first in the number of organic farmers and fourth in terms of area under organic farming. Many states like Uttarakhand and Tripura have set targets similar to Sikkim to go fully organic
