A kid is told to drink medicine in turn for a candy. Which matters, the candy or the medicine?The end goal that you're trying to reach, is the candy. If the motivation is the candy, the kid won't take the medicine now.As you try to chase an end goal, you won't feel good in the process. But if you realize that the medicine makes you feel better than the candy, you would gladly take the medicine.

Candy Vs. Medicine 

The candy is not going to heal you than medicine does. The end goal won't make you feel fulfilled, if you are not feeling fulfilled in the process. End states would never come, you have to feel them now. The kid should learn to take the medicine without aiming for the candy. The candy may feel good for a while, but the medicine would heal and make the kid happy in the long run.

The Candy Is A Trick

The candy is not the result of taking the medicine, but the good health is. Therefore, the process should be the aim as it brings more value than the result. The candy is not any way greater than the medicine.

Compare Not The Taste, But The Value

If the kid can't understand the purpose of the medicine, there would be a need for candy everytime sickness comes.

Being the greatest to less is better than being mediocre to more. Think of your actions as your currency, the more you do, the richer you are. Spend it to the most valuable things only.

Say No To More, Say Yes To Less. 

Let your brain hold as little info as possible and store them in your external brain. External brain means a physical thought storing tool such as a paper or digital technologies. In doing so, there's more room for creative thinking and less for recycled thoughts.

Minimal Internal Brain, Maximal External Brain.

How you treat today is how you'll treat your life.

Stop making tomorrow busy and let today do the work. 

Why are we less than what we could be? Perhaps because we do less than we could do.
