Everyone has that one bad habit that is causing them harm like smoking, drinking, sleeping late, overeating etc. Become aware of that habit and figure out a way to stop that toxic cycle.This question help me whenever I am about to sabotage my growth and repeat the same toxic cycle. 1)What is that one bad habit that is the biggest roadblock to my health?

What would My morning Routine look like?Now you may ask, Utkarsh why do we need a routine and I would say Because once you establish a routine then you have created a set of actions that you have no resistance to. Now, You can do them on autopilot mode.Create a morning routine that you enjoy waking up to. This routine should be about nurturing yourself before the world starts pulling you in all kinds of different directions.What would My sleeping Routine look like?Build yourself a customized sleeping routine where you unplug to calm your nerves, slow down and prepare for quality rest.

2)If I  want to be healthiest version of myself

For example when I was unhealthy I used to have so many problems while travelling. I used to get easily exhausted and my body used to ache a lot. Even If I was sitting at the most beautiful beach, I would be too sad to appreciate. So when I came back I decided that I would really work on my health. Fortunately I have come so far when it comes to my health goals.I also used to be more unreliable as a family member but now that I am more healthy, my family relies on me more. I have become more resourceful. I hated myself at times when I was incompetent and sickly.

3)If I become really healthy again what would I be able to do?

Body often knows what it needs. I know you have felt it too. Tune in to your body and honour it whenever you feel like it.it can be as small as taking a break from work or going for a walk. It might ask for you eat more healthy. You must have felt at certain times.Lately, I have been feeling that my body craving for more vegetables in my food and also often demands to start my day with some fruits.Now I often feel like doing more yoga than workout because my body has been feeling stiff.

4)What is my body trying to tell me right now?

After a lot of experiments I have found certain exercises and things that makes me feel the healthiest. For example I feel healthiest when I have worked out in the morning and had a proper breakfast.I feel healthiest when I go to bed early.I want you to write whatever comes to your mind.

For me they're yoga, workout and meditation.

6)What are the top Three habits I can adopt to improve my health?

This year I have started working on my gut heath. I am already seeing positive results.I have also started working on my mental health.I am going to be more consistent with my yoga and workout to be more flexible and strong.Make a goal or you will never achieve anything.Write down what are your top 3 health goals.

Life is not transformed drastically but often changed with small shifts.

8)What is the smallest shift I can introduce into my life so that I feel more comfortable and confident in my body?

The answer is pretty much everything but I want you to realise which aspect of life you want to improve the most. Healthy people attract more opportunities, we all know that. They also attract the best partner. You may waste your time by saying things like this is not fair or you can invest your time in becoming healthy.I would suggest the latter.

9)If I could took care of my health more sincerely what aspect of life is going to change for me drastically?

I am a big fan of journaling and asking the right questions to myself. Using journal prompts I have developed a deep meaningful relationship with myself.Do not underestimate the power of journaling. I have had several epiphanies while writing about my feelings.

The thing is I was sick and then my mother also got sick and if that wasn't enough, somebody tried to hack my sister's youtube channel. I have read some pretty amazing books this year and I want to share some of my favourites with you guys. By the way, these are the books I read in 2023, they’re not released in 2023. Also, I am not married to any particular genre. I don’t think Reading fictional books is a waste of time nor do I think that Reading non-fictional books is a superior activity.So, This Blog will be divided into two parts. One part will be about non-fictional/Self-help books and the second part will be about fictional books.

Best Books of 2023

Greetings my fellow scholars, A few words before the rest of the words. You must be wondering what kind of a person reads this many books. I have been trying to figure out the reasons behind my obsessions of books too and I have come up with the following answers.1)Reading books makes me understand myself and the world around me. Consequently, I don’t feel vulnerable as much as I used to. 2)I have a genuine love for literature.3)I am also in my head all the time and reading books gives me a lot of productive things to think about.4)And of course, the last one is because I love stories.

Why do I read so many Books?

1)Every year we have moments of revelation where we realise certain things about life and the universe and Suddenly, we start to look at life differently.The first book I wanna recommend is filled with essays that may take you to those moments of revelation. The book name is 101 Essays That Will Change the Way You Think” By Brianna Wiest. She changed the way I think about her as the author.Some of the stuff was repetitive and the book could have been shortened but I stand by the book.

The second book I want to recommend is Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert. Big Magic is like this religious book about creativity. The author calls ideas the disembodied spirit of genius and she believes that creativity is magic and not in some metaphorical sense but in a literal sense like Harry Potter. It is less of a practical book but a more philosophical one. I highly recommend it to all the artists and creative people.

The next three books are my favourite poetry books and I am sad about the fact that the target audience of poetry is shrinking day by day to almost nothing. But I hope that you guys love poetry books because I have some really good recommendations.The first one is “Strength in Our Scars” by Bianca Sparacino and The second one “Gentle Reminder” is also by the same author. Both are good if you’re trying to heal yourself from heartbreak or if you have lost someone recently. These two will fill you with feelings of warmth, hope and positivity.

Another great poetry book is Poetry Pharmacy by William Seighart. I loved this book so much that I decided to keep a hard copy of it in my library. I leap onto this book whenever I am going through a hard time. It always recommends perfect poetry according to the situation you’re going through or the emotions you’re feeling.Poetry is the kind of art form that makes sense for you either when you’re going through something tragic or something ecstatic. It’s not for people of moderation.

5th favourite nonfiction book that I read this year is 5 Love Languages by Gary Chapman. let’s begin the second part of the blog. All my favourite fictional books. My first two recommendations are murder mystery books because that is my favourite genre.

Part 2 - Fiction Books

The first one is “The Murder of Roger Ackroyd” by Agatha Christie. This is considered one of the magnum opus of Agatha Christie. This is featured in 1001 books you must read before you die. It’s classic And I bet you that you will not be able to guess the right killer no matter how skilled of a literary detective you think you are. But again you can try, My guess was way off.

The second book that I enjoyed by Agatha Christie is “ABC Murders”. You are gonna enjoy this one because it’s a murder mystery about a serial killer. I think I finished this one much faster than Roger Ackroyd.

My next recommendation is Travelling Cat Chronicles by Hiro Arikawa and it is perfect for cat lovers. It’s a poignant story about a boy who rescues this cat and they both go on a road trip together. If you are a cat person you will cry while reading this, I can promise you that.

I have two audiobook recommendations for people who love audiobooksThis year I have also found the cutest romance audiobook series That I listen to whenever I need to hear something cosy and fun. The name is Love Lines by Cara Bastone and There are three parts to this series and every part is a story of a different couple, I love only 1st part “Call Me Maybe” and 3rd part “Seatmate”. 2nd Audiobook “Sweet Talk” was not my favourite. There is another romance audiobook by the same author that I love named “Love at First Psych”. All three are full of banter and deep meaningful conversation.

By now, you must have figured that I am addicted to reading murder mystery books. Hence, My next audiobook recommendation is for the people who love Christmas as much as a murder mystery. And the name of the audiobook is Mistletoe Murders narrated by Cobie Smulders. Her narration is morbidly perfect for murder mysteries.PS: This audiobook is an audible original so you gotta have an audible subscription to listen to this audiobook series.Plot: It’s a story about a woman who runs this cute Christmas-themed store by the day and solves murder mysteries by the night discreetly.

For No.1 we have the Death of Ivan Ilyich(92 pages long). It is one of the magnum opus of Leo Tolstoy. I had a breakdown while reading this book because this particular Short story is about death and how you come to terms with it. How to cope with the pain that comes with it?

There is nothing trivial about true heartbreak, it's actually a sign that you have loved deeply

For No.5 we have Inward by Yung Pueblo(240 pages long). Inward is a collection of poetry, quotes and prose that explores the movement of self-love to unconditional love, the power of letting go and the wisdom that comes with knowing yourself.

For No.6 we have Letters to a Young Poet by Rainer Maria Rilke(128 pages long). It is the story of a student at a military academy who sent some of his verses to a well-known Austrian poet, requesting an assessment of their value. The older artist, Rainer Maria Rilke replied to the student in this series of letters.

For No.7 we have Eat that Frog by Brian Tracy(100 pages long), one of the classics of all time on productivity.  I have been recommending this book for a long time. This book tells you about the importance of starting your day with the most important and hardest task.

For No.8 we have a book that talks about the man and his most famous speech on Vedanta given in London, which began with the words “sister and brothers of America”, yes I am talking about Swami Vivekananda and his Book on Practical Vedanta as a philosophy. It'sa good book to start, if you want to read about Indian philosophy.

For No.9 we have a spiritual book named  As a man thinketh by James Allen(96 pages long). This book was my first spiritual book and it revolutionized the way I think now. This book talks about How we become what we think. Highly recommended.

It is full of important questions you should ask yourself in life to know yourself across all dimensions. We all have a tendency to ask victim-framing questions to ourselves but after reading this book you will realise the importance of asking problem-solving-oriented questions.

10 Very Short Books you can Read to Finish your Year Strong

I have been journaling my thoughts since I started content creation because I wanted to become better at creative writing.Whenever I had a good notion, I stopped and wrote it down in the Notes App on my smartphone.I even started keeping a diary under my pillow because Some of My Good ideas came to me while I was trying to sleep.So what you're about to read are some of my most personal thoughts and opinions. I want to share these epiphanies because I believe that they can be helpful to someone. It's long so take your time while reading this, it's my journal of two years.

MY Journal of 2 Years

One of the biggest lessons I have learnt the hard way. It’s no one else’s responsibility that your future is taken care of. You have to follow your vision alone. You don’t want to get caught up in other people’s dreams unless it aligns with yours.You have to do things yourself, you can ask for assistance but it will always be you who will save yourself and who will make your dreams come true. No one else is going to do it for you and time is of the essence because if you do not show up to make your dreams come true then society will propel you to choose the dream they have decided for you.

On Vision

Whenever I feel like I am attaching myself too much to the outcome or external validation or something that is out of my control, I repeat this Mantra in my head continuously which takes away all the anxious thoughts and calms me down.The Mantra is: "Everything I desire is within me".This brings back all the attention and energy you have attached to external things and you become the centre of focus of your energy which instantly makes you more calm.

How to Detach from the Outcome

There is a dense fog that is keeping you in the dark called temptations. It can only be lifted with self-regulation and Self-discipline. The Fate of the man is to live a life of self-regulation and Self-discipline or he is a menace to society. Conformity is also a temptation.

On Temptations

Contribution to society is the byproduct of following your most deepest and selfish desires. The most selfless thing you can do is to be selfish.

Don't get me wrong I'm a big fan of hard work. My parents' answer to most of my problems was nothing but hard work. However, trying too hard may produce negative results. So Sometimes it's better to sit in your power and attract. Because when you chase something you do it from a lack of mindset. But when you attract, you do it from a mindset of abundance. Sometimes it's okay to say "I AM ENOUGH".

Too much Hard work is Harmful

Anything that gives you immediate gratification is Hollow because It uses pleasures as a facade to lure you into its hollowness. It has no wisdom and truth, all it is capable of is just empty pleasures.It is like a mirage in a desert which lures you into the abyss and leaves you barren yet wanting for more.How long will you be fooled by empty pleasures? Anything worthwhile emboldens you to be persistent and perseverant. It calls out for your soul demands alignment between action and words, And most importantly delays gratification.

On Alcohol, Pornography and drugs

Choose a Goal so inspiring that all the fog clears away and your True Self Awakens.Choose a Goal so worthy that Your Ego begins to thunder.Choose a Goal so ambitious that all your addictions look trivial in the pursuit of it.Achieve any goals in 3 Steps1)Continuous Visualisation with relentless passion.2)Quality of intention on the object of attention.3)Countless Executions on the Intention without attachment to the outcome.You have two choices in life, either work on your goals or work for someone who has goals.

On Goals

You will meet monotony even when you walk the path of passion. It’s naive to think that once you go after your passion you will not stumble upon things that are monotonous. Your answer lies in the craftsmanship philosophy: Finding meaning in meaningless things.

On Monotony

Being passionate doesn't mean running around frantically and barely accomplishing anything.It is being calm like the depth of the ocean on the inside even when you're surrounded by nothing but chaos on the outside. It is, Being able to find solutions even when everything is stacked against you.Because the Antidote to the chaos of the world is the order of passion within.

On Passion

Good karma is the greatest wealth you can accumulate in the economy of the universe. Every other type of wealth is an illusion.

On "Karma"

It's not immoral to desire material abundance but abusing your soul for it definitely is.Morality as a compass, and productivity as a ship cruising towards utility as a destination.Don't stick to your morals because you can look down on others, stick to it because you are not shredding your soul into pieces for some cheap pleasures. Stick to it because it brings peace into your life.

On Morality

“I’m okay the way I am” is complacency.“I am enough” is self-acceptance."I am Enough"  Has this subtle implication that even though I have flaws, I am worth it. I can overcome anything while being open to self-improvement.

Self-Acceptance

One thing you will notice is that once you attach yourself to a meaningful goal you become immune to all sorts of life-threatening forces and addictions. And If you are aimless then you become vulnerable to all sorts of life-threatening forces and addictions.so we can say being aimless is a vice, not a virtue.

On Meaning in life and addictions

One of the biggest parts of a healing journey is being compassionate towards yourself. Don't be like “How did I let this happen? or How much of a fool I had been in the past?” Instead, say things like "I did my best to my knowledge.” Or “I was not aware back then but thank god, I know better now."When Your inner voice sounds like your best friend then you would know you’re being self-compassionate.

On Healing

When you have done enough healing you will be faced with unexpected peace and boredom. The usual inner turmoil and self-criticism will subside and self-acceptance will emerge from within. This is a gift of peace that you have earned by consciously healing yourself. Embrace it!

Thinking along the lines "Either I am gonna do it with perfection or Not gonna do it at all." Is the biggest self-sabotage there is. Just get the job done. Most of the time completion is enough of perfection.Other Self-sabotaging behavioursWhen you want to be awesome on your first try.When you only do the things that you're comfortable with.When you ruin your whole day because you didn't wake up at the right time.When you procrastinate your most important task until the end.

On Self-Sabotage

Use this phrase if you ever find yourself stuck in a negative thought pattern“Wow, brain what a great worst-case scenario you have created, I am definitely hooked. Now if you don’t mind create a best-case scenario too and flip the script.”By saying this to yourself, You will stop identifying yourself as your thoughts.Now when you are done connecting all the positive thoughts in your brain and creating a story, Play that chain of thoughts on a loop until you feel safe and reassured.

On Negative thoughts

What I often do, when I am surrounded by negative thoughts, is close my eyes and consciously turn every negative thought into different types of butterflies like monarchs, red admiral, and small white, in my mind and Imagine hovering over me. Suddenly they don’t have the same impact on me as before.

How to break the Negative thought pattern

Becoming An Adult is not about forgetting the child you once were but holding a space where your inner child can express itself freely while being protected by the adult you have become.I hope it helps you in some way.

How to trick your brain into doing hard things?

Say you’re trying to learn a new programming language then just write one program each day in the beginning.Say you’re trying to improve your English Grammar then try learning only four grammar rules every day.Say you're trying to learn a massive software then try learning only four features every day.This trick worked for me so well that I learned not only how to use Photoshop but also Final Cut Pro in a few months without having much stress. The same way I worked on my English grammar and vocabulary. I realised a long time ago that just by showing up every day you can learn almost anything.

1. Divide your task into ridiculously small-sized pieces so that your brain doesn’t find it hard.

Most people try to learn everything on their first day and when they don’t get it, they doubt their intelligence. The reality is brain needs time to process things so intensity won’t get you much farther in life.Just focus for only 10 to 15 minutes on the task for the first few days and gradually increase your focus time to 20 to 30 minutes

2. In the beginning, Allocate only 10 to 15 minutes.

Everyone feels resistance in the beginning. Everyone goes through this, so don’t worry, you’re doing great. always be compassionate towards yourself. Don't be like "You're so stupid, you can't do anything." Instead, Affirm yourself by saying "I enjoy my current position while I develop skills for the next phase of my life."Say this Mantra in your head if you ever feel discouraged “ I can, I will, watch me.”

3. Don’t be too hard on yourself.

Don’t skip any day, make sure you show up consistently. You can make your brain learn anything, It doesn’t matter how hard it is if you do it every day.Consistency is one of the biggest discipline there is.

4. Be consistent

Understand that our brains are more visually inclined. We never forget pictures but what we do forget is text.So watching videos online and learning from the experts might make it feel less difficult.

5. Use visuals like YouTube videos and tutorials to learn

When you study you’re serious, but when you learn you’re sincere, not serious, you invite some play into the process. Most people take learning so seriously they forget that it's supposed to be fun. Ask a simple question to yourself"How can I make it more fun?"Like if you are trying to memorize something then try making a song out of it. If you're trying to memorize English vocabulary then using mnemonics is great way to make it fun.

6. Invite some play into your learning.

Acknowledge that your brain exaggerates a lot of the time but when you start you realise it was not as hard as you were making it in your head. If we would listen to our brain all the time we would be paralysed with fear.

Lately, I have been trying to learn some hard things and they were exhausting me a little so I thought why not share some of the tips that worked for me, maybe someone else is trying to do the same.

I have read five books on love and relationships and this is the most practical book I have come across far. Like it doesn't preach love should be this and that. It has been translated into many many languages which speaks volumes of its credibility.
