Underrated LinkedIn Career Features

Underrated LinkedIn Career Features

TL;DR: If you use LinkedIn the right way you can find the perfect role, build a dream career journey, set career and personal goals, and connect with others.

Here's how:

  • Use "Search Appearances" to find possible companies and roles that you might like.
  • Use "Who Viewed Your Profile" to find the perfect mentor, coach, sponsor or accountability buddy.
  • Use "People Also Viewed" and People You May Know" for a trifecta. You can find a dream job, company and mentor all in one.

Step 2: Secure The Perfect Mentor

Step 2: Secure The Perfect Mentor

Click on “Who viewed your profile” on your LinkedIn page. If you don’t have premium LinkedIn you will only be able to see the last 3-5 people that have looked at your profile. If you’re not already connected with them, go ahead and send an invitation to connect.

Try to be intentional with each networking conversation you have with your new connections, you never know, one of these people could be a future mentor, coach, sponsor, or accountability buddy.

Go back to your LinkedIn page and locate the sections that say

  • “People also viewed”
  • “People you may know”

Click the button that says, “Show More” under each section. Here’s how to use both sections:

Dream Job, Dream Company AND Dream Mentor all in one: Combined, these two sections give you a list of 20 people. Without even clicking on their names you’re able to see their job titles and company that they work for. Right of the bat you have a list of potential new jobs, companies, and mentors.
