Understand what friendship means; it is a commitment to care. This means even when I don't feel like being a friend, I will always care. Most people believe it is a reciprocal process of giving and expecting to receive same love but it's not even close. 

Friendship is an intention. One initiated out of deliberation but here is the funniest thing, you will have to scrap out expectations from this intention. The only justification for expectations is marriage, outside that, no one owes you anything, not even one you give your life for.
