The field of NLP was first developed in the 1970s by Richard Bandler and John Grinder, who studied successful therapists such as Virginia Satir, Fritz Perls, and Milton Erickson to identify the techniques and strategies they used to help their clients achieve positive outcomes. Bandler and Grinder then developed a set of tools and techniques based on their observations, which they called Neuro-Linguistic Programming.
