Mongolia is one of the largest land empires in history, Dubai's future is no different than that.

Mongolia was a city with no significant resources elevated to the wealthiest place in the space of a generation. This pattern matches Dubai's. 

Examining Dubai's glossy and vapid structures, like Burj Khalifa, which is hailed as the tallest tower in the world and many others, the country does not have great structures or creativity that can withstand the test of time. 

If these structures are left unmaintained, they'll be eaten by the desert in just a few decades. 

Tourism Capital of the World

Dubai aspires to be the top in tourism, building artificial islands and vapid skyscrapers, to attract the world's attention.

Continuous Investment 

After discovering their newfound wealth - oil. Right decisions were made to build Dubai as a hub for finance, trade tourism, and real estate, propelling Dubai into the international stage with foreign investment & global talents. 

Gambling

One of the most significant factors contributing to their massive, extravagant is gambling big. They plan to build glossy & vacuous architecture with no cultural tie or meaning.

This part talks about why Dubai's foundation as a nation lacks stability.

1. Treatment of Migrants

These impressive buildings are built by migrants, who were exploited.

• Fake Promises

Recruitment companies promise good wages, accomodation, and goof life for their loved ones

• High Recruitment Fees

The fees are priced at least 2,000$, which is to keep them in debt so that they are limited to escape. Once they arrived, their passports are confiscated. They live in dismal camp and 2/3 of their wages are slashed.

• Working Rights abuse

They are not protected by labour laws with no minimum wage

2. Senseless Projects

• Burj Khalifa

Workers were abused with labour paid less than 3 pounds/day.

However glamorous it seems, the tower lacks a proper sewage system.

• Palm Island & The World Island

Destroying the ecosystem with the sheer amount of sand

Unsustainable, requiring constant replacement & sea defense

Abandoned World Island. It is sinking. Most of the island is filled only with sand piles.

3. Mockery of Nature

• Lacks of green elements in the city

Initially, Dubai dedicated to grow saplings into actual trees, but was abandoned halfway, giving way to a billion-dollar project.

• Dubai focuses on materialism.

Examples: Giant Hollow Sky Scrappers, Bizarre Island Projects & Luxury at all cost hotels

• Singapore focuses on sustainable growth.

Examples: Meticulous Urban Planning, Well-orchestrated public transportation networks, abundant greenery, and innovative land use.
