The Ordeal…

In July 2024, the United States Supreme Court decided on the Trump V. United States case. It ruled, six to three, that all former and sitting Presidents and vice Presidents are immune from criminal prosecution and criminal law when making an ‘official executive action’. The main opinion of the approving six justices decision was emphasizing protecting executive independence and effective governance while excluding immunity for unofficial conduct. That effectively means that the president can do whatever they please even if it is a crime, as long as they label it an official executive action.

My Opinion

My Opinion

I believe that this decision has opened the floodgates to corruption, demagoguery, and ultimately dictatorship. This decision is unconstitutional and is harmful to our democracy. It threatens the integrity of American governance and accountability between the people and the government. It is an urgent problem that must be solved promptly.

This landmark decision undermines the foundational civic principles of the rule of law, checks and balances, and equality. The founding fathers fought and died for a nation where all are created equal. Where no title would have more rights than another.
