Ever since Covid-19 has spread all around the world, the rate of homelessness has increased everywhere in the world as individuals are losing their jobs and are unable to pay their rent and mortgage, thus, being evicted from their homes. The pandemic has caused unemployment to rank even higher in the top factors of homelessness besides low income, and domestic violence. Not only those individuals affected by these factors that drive them to be homeless but also exposing themselves to a variety of negative effects.

Aactive and determined legal counsel should be provided to the homeless by the government. This is to assure those who are homeless that their voices are heard as well as their presence is seen by those responsible for tackling homelessness such as the government and non-government organizations (NGOs). By having legal counsel provided to those who are homeless, we can prevent the development of behavioral problems and tendencies to misuse substances as a way to relieve themselves.

Secondly, the establishment and organization of soup kitchens are also a major suggestion to the solutions of overcoming homelessness. As the numbers of the homeless increase, so should the numbers of soup kitchens and similar establishments, to accommodate and provide care for these poor individuals. The faster we take action on the matter, the faster it can be controlled as well as reducing the exposure towards the nutritional deficiencies from the lack of healthy food.

More and more shelters or residence for the homeless should be opened throughout every state in every country. This is also to help provide a safer place for them compared to the streets and protect these homeless individuals from bad, unpredictable weather & possible physical assaults especially during this whole Covid-19 situation where people are encouraged to stay at home to protect themselves from the deadly virus. By providing shelters to the homeless, we are able to reduce their exposure to the risks of the virus.

In conclusion, homelessness has always been a problem everywhere worldwide and is increasing at quite a fast rate due to the pandemic. That is why it is a responsibility for the government, non-government organizations (NGOs) as well as society to help improve these poor individuals’ lives by providing legal counsel, more soup kitchens, and more shelters to protect the homeless. As for society, clean and used clothes, educational books and used gadgets can be donated to the shelters instead of throwing them away.
