Self-talk can boost our confidence and help us to reach our goals. For example, "I will start going to the gym" or " I will complete this coding course."

However, research suggests that when considering our goals, asking ourselves a question (Will I?") is more powerful than giving ourselves an order ("I will"). This is known as the Willpower Paradox.
