The common consensus is that alternate universes are a possibility, but cannot be proved nor denied with our current technology because of its limitations.
One interesting idea to take from this is how similar are the living or non-living objects in the universes? For example, if we lived in Universe A and we have doppelgangers (clones) that live in Universe B, would the difference in upbringing lifestyle, wealth, etc have a large effect on the personality or physical characteristics of that doppelganger?
Interesting question.
Just make sure to stop before you have an existential crisis.
