Note-taking tips
- Write notes in your own words. Avoid transcribing notes (writing every word the instructor says)!
- Review your notes the same day you created them and then on a regular basis. (Cramming in one long study session immediately prior to an exam isn’t effective)
- Test yourself by using flashcards or using methodology from Cornell Notes. (What do you need to learn yet? Testing helps to recall easier)
- Pen & paper or a laptop? Carefully consider it! There are costs and benefits to either option.
