Note-taking tips

Note-taking tips

  1. Write notes in your own words. Avoid transcribing notes (writing every word the instructor says)!
  2. Review your notes the same day you created them and then on a regular basis. (Cramming in one long study session immediately prior to an exam isn’t effective)
  3. Test yourself by using flashcards or using methodology from Cornell Notes. (What do you need to learn yet? Testing helps to recall easier)
  4. Pen & paper or a laptop? Carefully consider it! There are costs and benefits to either option.
