Change is often scary because we don't know the outcome. Humans fear uncertainty, therefore creating anxiety for change. That's why people tend to stay the same. Actively growing as a person means constantly changing. And for some people that can be terrifying. Facing the reality and truth is hard for humans to accept (not talking about everyone), especially truth is hard. So if there is something in your life right now that NEEDS to change. Just face it and go for it, set the goals you need to achieve the change.

If your motivation for a task or goal is in any way compromised (because you lack the skil, or don't take it seriously, or think that you've done so far is good enough) don't take it on. Find something else to show the world how much you care, not how little.

When you look back over a year, you will notice that you've done some remarkable things. It will give you the strength to make drastic changes to turn your life around.
Could I have done anything to prevent it?
We can feel regret along with disappointment, but we have to realize that every circumstance is not in our control. In most cases, we don't control much, and even if we do, the pain can be a catalyst in our growth.
