Glutathione hinders the activity of tyrosinase enzyme — the one responsible with melanin production that gives skin its dark pigment.
By the same token, since is an antioxidant, it scavenges free radicals, defending skin against sun damage, the major culprit that often causes hyperpigmentation.
Both topical and oral use of glutathione has strong depigmenting effects by increasing antioxidant defense and inhibiting melanin.
