While it is normal to compare yourself with others, it's also a waste of time. Your comparison could be a wrongful assessment as you may be comparing yourself to someone who isn't as happy as they pretend to be.
When you are comparing yourself to others, you are probably only seeing part of the whole picture.
If you are making an excuse not to try something new, because you are comparing yourself to others who are experts in the field, remember that they were also inexperienced at some stage.
While comparing yourself to others might not be extremely helpful, comparing yourself to people who are in a less good position than you might actually lead to you feeling better.
So, if you really feel this need, try not comparing yourself but to the ones in an inferior position.
