In the past, our relationships were necessarily few, and often lifelong, but now we inhabit seas of people, moving often for work, and in the process forming thousands of relationships, many fleeting and, increasingly, virtual.
This world will push us to become more outgoing, open and tolerant.
Yet, navigating such vast social networks may also require we become more willing to adapt ourselves to them – to be more conformist.
