Batching

Batching can be explained best when talking about laundry.  You won't do your laundry when you have one pair of dirty socks. You would wait for a certain critical mass of dirty laundry before doing the laundry.

The time and labour involved in doing one pair of socks or an entire basket are the same. You want to be effective and efficient with your allocation of resources in many different ways.
