The Visualization Exercise

Imagine there is a person watching a movie. This person is usually you and watching your own movie.

When you’re interacting with others, you are essentially being invited into their movie theater to watch their movie.

However, most people often pull out their phones and secretly watch their own movie at the same time. We assume the other person won’t notice, but they do.

The key to becoming a better listener is to learn to put down that phone and become fully immersed in what you’re there to see, as if you’re watching a jaw-dropping, award-winning movie in an actual theater.
