This is when someone (the abuser) intentionally cause disgrace to the victim especially in the midst of crowd, to reduce his or her self worth. Therefore, causing the victim to be engulfed in the wave of shame.

According to Wikipedia, Humiliation is the abasement of pride, which creates mortification or leads to a state of being humbled or reduced to lowliness or submission. It is an emotion felt by a person whose social status, either by force or willingly, has just decreased. Humiliation is the primary cause of shame which can lead to depression.
