GOD'S SPECIFIC WILL - Deepstash

GOD'S SPECIFIC WILL

God loves us and often surprises us with exactly what we asked for! But, most of the time it’s wise to allow God’s Word to be our guide, for it has plenty to say about decisions we should make. Let’s pray for wisdom and discernment as we learn from God’s Word and consider asking these questions:

Would this choice contradict God’s truth?

Is this the wisest decision? (financial, relational, emotional, etc.)

Are any fears guiding my decision?

Would I regret this in a week, month, year, or ten years?

Which path brings me the most peace?

Have I sought Godly wisdom?

Listening To New Music
  • Around the age of 30-35, when people have settled into life, the music stops being something to experience, and more of something to remember.
  • Listening to new music can be a ‘risky’ way to invest your time and attention, as you may or may not like it. Most people who are adults or in the middle ages have their younger days packed nicely in a playlist, having all that they could possibly need in terms of music.

“Maximizing optionality” - the state of enjoying possibilities without being on the hook to do anything - is a key reason young people give when going for big school or employer.

  • working at a consulting firm creates optionality because of the broad exposures & skills
  • going to graduate school creates optionality by enabling more opportunities than a narrow professional trajectory can provide.
  • working at prestigious firms and developing social networks are similarly viewed as enabling more choices and more optionality

You have only one mind, but it has two areas with different functions. One part is your conscious mind. That’s your “objective mind” your waking mind. It makes choices. The other part is your subconscious mind. It is your “deep self”. Your conscious mind can reason. Your subconscious mind doesn’t reason or argue. Your conscious mind is the gardener, but the subconscious is the garden itself. This is largely a conscious decision and we all have the power to decide the type of person we wish to be
