Cities undervalue the importance of the design of the built environment altogether. There is this sort of professional split between high architecture and building, which research shows is just fallacious. It’s all architecture and it’s all important, because it’s all having an impact on people all the time.Very often in cities, the overall form of buildings is given much more priority than materials, surfaces, textures, and details. What we know about the way we appropriate and experience places is that the overall form of a place is not what most dramatically affects our experience of it.

The City Life

Architects tend, particularly with parametric design, to emphasize overall aggregate form, and all that other stuff gets filled in later. And then, very often, it’s value-engineered out. That’s what’s creating a lot of the impoverishment in the environment. To have “sticky” places—places that engage you, your sensory system, your motor system, [and] help you create a sense of identification with [them]—you have to have all those things, and most buildings don’t.

Designs Without Soul

When I was really young kid, nature was nature. It was forests, trees, lakes, rivers. Then people begin to use the word “environment.” It was a political and social construct, and emphasized the interrelatedness of all these different components within nature. That was a response to pesticides, air pollution, and so on. Now, kids get education in the environment from the time they’re in first grade. They start learning about climate change, visit waste treatment plants. That’s the kind of paradigm shift that needs to happen about the built environment.

We Understood Environmental Concerns Too Late

One, architectural education. Two, real-estate development. Three, building codes, zoning codes, all these things need to be reviewed according to these kinds of standards. Four, architects need to not be so skittish in thinking about human experience and learn more about it. It’s a much larger problem than just, “Architects should do better.” It’s not a professional disciplinary problem, it’s a larger social problem. We also need more research.

Blow Up The Traditional Organization Chart

When taking an online class, especially in a subject seemingly unrelated to your profession, it’s tempting to be overly modest.
But pursuing a multi-week course requires long-term commitment, a strong work ethic, and time management skills, especially when you’re balancing it against other responsibilities. Emphasizing all that helps you stand out as a strong, dependable candidate.

Don’t downplay the significance of completing a class

There’s such a thing as being overcommitted to your education. This may sound like obvious advice, but in the course of ordinary conversation, it’s easy to slip up and confess something you shouldn’t. Therefore, keep your professional surroundings in mind and don’t let your guard down too much.

1. Competitive advantage from day one

Synthetic testing can sometimes fail to detect a serious problem. If you use your product daily you will be sure everything works.

2. You must use your product

Outsourcing is much easier and faster to organize than a profitable product. The fear of borrowing and the need to meet high expectations is a big factor. We did several "Pivots" because misunderstood market demand. We could find ourselves in a situation when we add feature by feature until realize that we neither have a good product nor the money. We have to equally devote time to current projects, communication with existing customers and the product.

3. Venture capital isn’t a panacea

Free users more often contact support (due to their larger number), they react more sharply to your failures, they ask absolutely different features rather than those who are paying, etc.And the conversion from free to paid is very low. Expect about 0.5–1%.

4. Freemium can put you on the wrong track

Annual Subscriptions will significantly increase your cash flow, approximately +10–15% to your Mrr. It reduces the number of monthly failures and delinquent Churn. If users on average use your product for less than a year, the annual subscription will increase your LTV.

5. The advantages of annual billing

Lead conversion from a partner directory is about 30%. We tried Google Adwords several times, spent several thousand dollars, and received 0 paid customers. Another great channel for us is organic. This is great, but a long-term investment in content and Seo.&nbsp;

How much equity should they get?<ul><li>If that $100,000 is a pre-money valuation, the company is valued at $100,000 before the investment. That means that the angel’s investment actually serves to increase the value of the company to $125,000, reducing their share to 20% and increasing yours to 80%.</li><li>In both instances you’ve gained the capital you need to grow, as well as the expertise of a seasoned angel.&nbsp;</li></ul>
