According to wikipedia Mental toughness is "Having the herbal or evolved mental part that permits you to: commonly, cope better than your fighters with the various demands (competition, training, way of life) that game locations on a performer; especially, be greater regular and better than your combatants in last determined. 

It just simply means to be more mentally strong and able to resist and fight back to different situations more than your opponent.
