Knowledge & Meaning ~ 1

  • Knowledge is understood as a proposition which is a justified true belief.
  • A proposition is simply a statement whose truth value is unknown. It may be true, false or both.
  • Justified refers to your rationale behind a proposition, true Implies its truth value as observed from your point of reference & belief implies your conviction of the proposition in question. So knowledge implies a justified belief which is true universally else it’s not absolute knowledge . So all new knowledge or knowledge of unfamiliar stems from a reference to familiar/old. Referencing is your justification.

Knowledge & Meaning ~ 2

  • So all what is considered today as knowledge has its basis in some justified true belief. That’s to say earlier knowledge gives way to new knowledge. But in this tautology what’s to be considered first as knowledge and its basis ?
  • To know something, possess the knowledge is strengthened & signalled by your justification & degree of belief about the same. E.g: the world bows to Jesus’ teaching and considers it sacred for he gave his life smilingly without any malice towards his enemies. Remember his last words while being crucified!
  • So degree of belief is the strongest signal to knowledge.

  1. The last two notes are telling of something unusual. They signal that if something is true in its nature, the first time it became knowledge was the time when someone had a belief in them taken to its logical end. So question of how your beliefs are made is very important.
  2. A belief will have its source in your Conditioning. Conditioning is an envelope that includes a) trusting your intuition as a valid form of reliance, b) your approval/disapproval of visible ideas to think anew. This process is at work everyday whereby your conditioning guides you to form/accept/extend/refute a proposition.

  1. So it’s your Intuition or Conditioning that makes you belief in ideas unknown and known respectively.
  2. So to discover the unknown or to come across something unfamiliar, intuition has to be present. Maybe it builds logically on your known propositions but the decision to pick one direction of enquiry wud be based on intuition.
  3. The development of your intuition and intellect is both necessary. Former to pick on a direction and the latter to logically take it to its conclusion.

  1. Absolute Truth which is fundamental and thus contained in every proposition, giving the proposition its meaning or direction would become known only with developed intuition & finesse of intellect.
  2. The development of intuition is the rise of the tide of Consciousness. Consciousness as a category is your awareness of the surroundings. An awareness of the surrounding in plain terms would mean extending your care and concern for others since you understand them. At an elevated level of consciousness you realise there are no others.

  1. Like for example a standing electric pole, you can be kind to it for its also standing since so long. It need not be at the receiving end of your punch, anger or kick. So when this realisation dawns on you, I’d say your consciousness is peaking.
  2. This peak of consciousness presents all that’s transpiring around you. Intuition is nothing but an occasional dip into that perennial flow, guiding you where to look.
  3. To maintain that intuition guides you correctly, your consciousness must be at its peak I.e you must always remember the principle of connectedness & there are no others.

  1. Once you start to constantly dwell in that idea of “there are no others”, your intuition will be real. It’s be from a place of actual dip into the reality of working than a figment of imagination.
  2. So how to develop that Consciousness? In the east, meditation and meditative practices are long argued as channels to elevate your consciousness. Maintaining a gratitude journal, practising kindness, are a way to thank the consciousness inherent in the universe and be part of it. When you meditate you get the glimpse of it, kindness and gratitude is your way to salute it.
