This may be an obvious step for some of you, but if you really want to gain confidence, you need to step out of your comfort zone.

Act spontaneously, change your response to situations, do things you would have never done before.

You don't need to instantly go do the thing you fear most. Get out of your comfort zone by taking smaller steps first, just by doing new activities or try make some new friends if you travel somewhere.

A method that works for me when I feel too scared to do something, is to count down from 3 and just going for it.

The best way is just to dress the way you feel most comfortable and confident. You can go for your favorite or best looking outfit so that you really feel like yourself and will at least have confidence in your looks. It's a great method of boosting you confidence in other ways too.

If that doesn't work for you, you can also create a more confident version of yourself (who is you but also isn't) by styling your hair differently and/or dressing differently from your usual style. You're basically creating a character for yourself to gain confidence.
