Introduction: The effect of top Innovations on the Gospel

Introduction: The effect of top Innovations on the Gospel

According to LiveScience, some of the top inventions are;

Wheel, Compass, Light Bulb, Telephone, Internal Combustion Engine, Internet, X-rays.

Undoubtedly, a good number of them have in some way influenced the spread of the gospel or Christianity as we know it today.

A few of the innovators were Christians too so the mindset of great innovation ought to be encouraged and adopted within the Church.

The Dominion Mandate.

The Dominion Mandate.

Genesis 1:28 documents the Dominion Mandate given to Adam (mankind) by God.

It is a call and responsibility to dominate, be great, and to steward. This forms the basis of self-leadership.

The Mandate was given to all humanity; Christians and Non-Christians alike). It is not exclusive to only Christians because the mandate to dominate the world precedes the fall of man and the genesis of the Church.

The problem: A Limiting mindset

Argument/Suggestion: Christians should focus on Church (and its activities) and leave other things.

"Afterall, We are not of this world, it is not our final destination. This world is passing. So why bother?"

The dangerous implication of this mindset is that we take the back seat and let other people chart and dictate for us the course of the world we and our children live in.

Undesired Effect: the Church is slowly becoming late adopters. Always at the tail-end of technological advancement playing catchup.

Solution: Mindset shift

Solution: Mindset shift

There is a way to think if we would witness kingdom greatness.

3 things to help us reframe our thinking.

  • We are the likeness of God.
  • The Great Commission.
  • A fine Balance.

3 Mindset shifts to make

1. God deposited creativity in man to be creative just as God is. Small-mindedness, timidity, and poverty are anomalies because God doesn't have these traits. We have great potential for creativity and innovation.

2. The Great Commission is a huge assignment that involves reaching out to a large number of people, countries, and languages with urgency. It requires innovative methods if we would evangelize the world in our time.

3. It is a balance between focusing on church and world development. It should not be either-or. It can be both.

7 Areas to Dominate for Kingdom Establishment. (1/2)

From The 7 Mountains of Prophecy by Johnny Enlow, here are 7 areas of influence over any society.

  • Governance; Proverbs29:2, Jonah 3:5, Ezra 6:9-11
  • Religion; Matthew 28:19, Acts 4:12
  • Media; 2 Timothy 2:22
  • Education; The risk of our children learning unnatural ideologies, ungodly perspectives, false doctrines that go on to shape their lives.

7 Areas to Dominate for Kingdom Establishment. (2/2)

  • Family: 2 Tim 3:15. For some of us, Christianity is easier because the right foundation was laid at a tender age by a family relation.
  • Economy: A Major temptation recorded in Matthew 13:22 would be less tempting under stable economical and financial conditions
  • Celebration(arts and entertainment).

Conclusion: Actions to take

  1. Practice self-leadership with a focus on growth and stewardship; using resources and technology to promote the gospel in innovative ways.
  2. Create Christian options that are just as good in quality if not better, and don't let others who prioritize ephemeral things outperform you.
  3. Align with God's mission and vision, believing that all things are possible, and be part of the people who say it is possible.
