This is one of the central questions that our community is working to answer. For my part, I started asking this question when I decided that exercising and eating healthy, while important, is a painfully limited view of what it means to live a healthy life.

Connection

Human beings are the most social creatures on planet earth. So, you're not really living a healthy life if it doesn't involve others.

The people you connect with will have a huge influence on you: Those who have already walked through the fire can help you do the same. And those who haven’t will make it seem impossible for you to do so.

No mass-producible solutions

Building better habits means changing your environment

Most people think that building better habits or changing your actions is all about willpower or motivation. But your environment has an incredible ability to shape your behavior.

Nowhere is this more true than with food.

The reasons we crave junk food

  1. The sensation of eating the food: what it tastes like, what it smells like and how it feels in your mouth.
  2. The blend of proteins, fats, and carbohydrates that it contains: junk food companies are looking for a perfect combination, that excites your brain and gets you coming back for more.

Contribution and self-worth

The act of contributing, no matter how small, allows you to derive a sense of self–worth. When you contribute something to the world, you matter.

You change the course of other's lives by what you create and contribute.

Make something

You can't control the amount of time you spend on this planet, but you can control what you contribute while you're here.

Be an active participant in life and contribute to the world around you. You don't have to create big contributions, you just need to live out small ones each day.
