Remember goal is a One time thing. If you find yourself waiting for your goal to be achieved, there is a high chance you would loose your interest on what you wanted to achieve and discontinue doing it once you achieve it.
Example - Setting a goal of running 100 meters in 15 seconds.
Example - Having a goal just to finish reading a book.
Focusing solely on goal, Once you achieve it, you would now find that you have got nothing else to do.
Dopamine - A Chemical harmone that excites you to achieve something, to chase it, but not after you get it.
Fall in love with the process and focus on one small step at a time. Even when you would have attained your goal, you would have fallen in love with the process that you would still continue doing it.
In the example above - Fall in love with the process of training, improve small steps. You can win several times.
You will find that you would still want to continue even after you achieve your goal.
When you set the big picture of a goal in your mind, your brain gets overwhelmed by the things that needs to be done to attain the goal.
This can demotivate you and you might backoff.
Do this instead.
Break the GOAL into small steps.
FOCUS on ONE step at a time and CELEBRATE each step.
ENJOY each step as it is your goal, forget rest of the things.
To reach a mile you need to take steps in feet.
To create an ocean you need tiny drops of water.
After completing few steps your brain would now be motivated enough to achieve more as there is proof to your brain that you have come a long way.
