Should I go with The "flow" OR "Flow"? The Difference

There is a difference between going with the 'flow" and going with the "Flow" (capital F)

Which means,

We can look at going with the flow from

  • The perspective of our personalities and relationships and/or
  • we can explore the same idea from the perspective of aligning with the Flow of the universe (aka the perspective of the Universe)

What Happens When We Go With The "flow"? (The small f)

If we’re not mindful and have a go with the flow personality we may find that we are actually making decisions to keep life comfortable and to avoid discomfort or conflict.

That is we'll always make decisions to keep ourselves within our own comfort zones because we want to feel safe and secure and not uncomfortable.

Which inturn leads us to live a less fulfilled and purposeful life.

Example:

I'm comfortable working from my home town and I don't want a transfer from my company hence i'll reject the offer.

(But getting transferred to a different state opens up your doors to new opportunities.)

What Happens When We Go With The "Flow" (The Capital F)

The other side of the flow coin is when we go with the Flow and the result is getting in synch with the natural intelligence and Flow of the universe.

It’s a Flow that arises from becoming intimately aware of who we are at our core and what the universe is asking of us.

Okay wait...that's a lot to process...

Simply,

  • The universe is asking us to overcome our fear and take the risks to grow and evolve And
  • It’s about letting go of the need to try and control everything and everyone.

  • Create a daily habit of communicating with the Almighty through meditation or prayer
  • Keep a journal and make brief notes about intuitive insights, coincidences, dreams or synchronicities that arise.
  • Learn to distinguish between thoughts and feelings that arise from your self and your soul.

Life is a series of natural and spontaneous changes. Don’t resist them – that only creates sorrow. Let reality be reality. Let things flow naturally forward in whatever way they like.”

The process of flow was discovered and coined by the Hungarian-American psychologist Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi. In the 1960s, Csikszentmihalyi studied the creative process and found that, when an artist was in the course of flow, they would persist at their task relentlessly, regardless of hunger or fatigue. He also found that the artist would lose interest after the project was completed, highlighting the importance of the process and not the end result.
