Types of motivation

Types of motivation:

  1. Impersonal - There is no point in doing this because my success is unlikely.
  2. External - I'm doing this because of a reward I might get or because I'm forced.
  3. Somewhat external - I'm doing this because I feel guilty or think that I should do this.
  4. Somewhat internal - I'm doing this because I personally value the goal.
  5. Internal - I'm doing this because it's important to my self worth.
  6. Internal - I'm doing this because I really want to do it.

From a design perspective, the ultimate goal of the products is to make users intrinsically motivated to buy and use it.
