If the elements in the designs move in a similar direction we perceive them are one group.

The movement can be communicated in a static design or using motion design.

Gives the hidden connection in the design which triggers the shape between the gaps in space and elements used on that canvas.

Our brain sees the things a whole rather than in a parts of whole. Based on this psychology we create the design with some parts of shapes and objects which in wholesome gives the shape we want that viewers to grab.

Focal Point

It draws the viewer’s attention to a particular element in the design.

Focal Point is also called as Emphasis , its primary act is to make all the elements lead viewers towards a Focal point.That point can be wherever in the Figure.

Proximity

Proximity

It means nearness in the space between the shapes and objects which feels like relative to each other.

Similarity

Similarity

An Object shares the similar feature or characteristics like: 

  • Shape
  • Size
  • Color or Texture
  • Dimensions & Orientation

 ... which are recognised as a group.

Continuity

Continuity

When elements are arranged in such a way in a symmetric manner like a line that minimizes viewers’ abruption towards design.

Our Human eyes move from one object to another if it is arranged in a line or path. 

Figure & Ground

Figure & Ground

A figure can be noticed based on its grounds like back and foreground. Usually the bigger area in the figure is assumed as a Background.
