I have anxiety, depression, and symptoms of PTSD. While in rehab I had trouble quitting smoking marijuana. I couldn’t distinguish one thing though. I was stuck between knowing whether or not smoking was actually helping with my anxiety, or I was just brainwashing myself to make myself believe it actually did. I didn’t go too far into it, until I realized that either way it does help me.
This is a stoic lesson, to visualize failure in advance.
It helps because if you imagine failure you start seeing all the ways that have led to that result. And you can start actively working on addressing and mitigating them in advance.
If you want to intrigue and influence people, you have to get their dopamine pumping.
A great way to do that is by having excellent conversation starters handy: “What was the best part of your day and what was the worst part of your day?” and “What personal passion project are you currently working on right now?”
