1. Create Your Memory Palace:Choose a familiar location: This could be your house, your commute, a favorite park, or even a fictional place you know well. The key is that you can easily visualize it in detail.Divide it into sections: If you're using your house, each room would be a section. If it's a walk, each landmark or significant point along the route would be a section. Example:Living Room: Sofa, fireplace, coffee table, bookshelf, TV.Kitchen: Sink, stove, refrigerator, countertop, dining table.Bedroom: Bed, dresser, closet, window.Bathroom: Toilet, sink, shower, bathtub, mirror.

Method Of Loci"

- Assign "pegs" to each section: These are the objects or locations within your memory palace that you'll use to hang your information on. They should be distinct and easily memorable. Examples:- House: Sofa, fireplace, front door, kitchen sink, etc.- Walk: A specific tree, a bench, a statue, a street corner, etc.Memorize the Layout:- Walk through your memory palace: Mentally walk through your chosen location, noting the order of your pegs. You should be able to visualize the entire route effortlessly.

"Storing Information"

- Create vivid and absurd images: For each piece of information you want to remember, create a bizarre and memorable image that connects it to a specific peg in your memory palace. The more outlandish and sensory the image, the better it will stick.- Examples:- To remember "apple" on the "sofa" peg: Imagine a giant apple sitting on your sofa, with a worm crawling out of it.- To remember "history" on the "front door" peg: Visualize the front door being made entirely of historical figures, all trying to squeeze through it at once.

Link Information to Pegs

Regularly revisit your palace: Mentally walk through it and review the images you've created. This helps solidify the connections in your mind.Use different palaces for different subjects: This helps prevent information from becoming jumbled.Additional tip:Make it personal: Use images and scenes that are meaningful to you.Don't be afraid to be silly: The more absurd the image, the more likely you are to remember it.Practice consistently: The more you use the Memory Palace technique, the more effective it will become.

Our brains are great at coming up with new ideas but have a tough time storing the AMPLE amount of old knowledge. Think about how much information you are exposed to throughout the course of your day, especially on your phone!! Offloading that information onto a secondary system makes organization and retrieval of that information much more efficient. Also, it ensures you never lose valuable information

Second Brain

Explain your understanding of the material as if you were speaking to a fifth grader. As you try to simplify the concepts, you will likely expose gaps in knowledge that you can focus on for future revision sessions! Also, this is great practice as higher education professional work places will require you to communicate your work clearly to an audience that may be unfamiliar with the information!

Feynman Technique

Naturally as humans we have a tendency to forget A LOT of information very rapidly. Spacing out your revisions appropriately allows you to enhance long-term retention increase efficiency as you won't need to study as long in each subsequent session.

Spaced Repetition

One of my favorite ways to practice FREELY recalling information in order to optimize for comprehension long term retention. First open up your textbook or lecture and get familiar with a specific section of the material. Then close the source and write everything you can remember on a blank sheet of paper. Then open the source again and compare it, while also filling in any knowledge gaps and making necessary corrections. Each iteration you do will allow you to retain more information!

Blurting Method

Avoid the traditional blocked practice for your revisions and opt for the more effective interleaved practice! Mixing up the types of questions and even modes of learning helps you maintain greater focus and concentration retain more information by creating contextual interference + simulating a more accurate representation of a testing environment.

Every study system needs a good method for overcoming procrastination. This method involves you breaking work down into much more manageable 25 minute intervals. Once you overcome the initial friction point, you will build momentum making each subsequent pomodoro easier to complete!

Listen to audio on the topic and write down some key notes on what they're saying that can help you better understand the subject you're learning.

Make your own notes from what you have read in the textbook. Write questions and answer them later. These can be questions from your textbook or even questions that you think are likely to come up on the exam. This is a good way to test your understanding of what you learnt and help you remember it.

WRITE THINGS DOWN

You can read the topic out loud, or try to teach the topic to someone else.

TALK OUT LOUD

Mind maps are a great way to break down information into a simple diagram that can be remembered more easily. They're also a good way to test whether you know the subject matter. You can redraw the diagram and deliberately leave blanks to see can you fill them in again or whether you can discuss the topic in more detail by only looking at the key headings on the mind map.

MIND MAPPING

Use past exam papers. This is great for not only testing your knowledge but also familiarising yourself with the exam format and structure, which will help you settle into the exam much quicker and easier on the day. Use questions from the textbook.

TEST YOURSELF

To improve memory it is important to keep going back over information that you learn, using different formats of learning.

Fueling the mind is an essential element of increasing focus and concentration. Research has indicated that students learn much better when they're well nourished. How often you eat can also have a powerful effect on your energy levels.
