What is conformity?

This occurs when an individual accepts influence because he hopes to achieve a favorable reaction from another person or group.He adopts the induced behavior because he expects to gain specific rewards or approval.

Compliance (or group acceptance)

<ul><li>This occurs when an individual accepts influence because the content of the induced behavior - the ideas and actions of which it is composed - is intrinsically rewarding.</li><li>Internalization always involves public and private conformity. A person publicly changes their behavior to fit in with the group, while also agreeing with them privately.</li></ul>

Internalization (genuine acceptance of group norms)

This occurs 'when an individual accepts influence because he wants to establish or maintain a satisfying self-defining relationship to another person or group'.

Identification (or group membership)

This type of conformity usually involves compliance - where a person publicly accepts the views of a group but privately rejects them.It is often because the person wants to fit in with the group and is scared of being rejected by the group.

It happens when  a person lacks knowledge and looks to the group for guidance.

Procrastination is a mechanism for coping with the anxiety associated with starting or completing any task or decision.Certain tasks make us feel anxious. As a strategy for coping with this anxiety, many of us have developed a habit of procrastinating: put off the task and you’ll experience relief of tension and anxiety.Procrastination isn’t the cause of our problems. It’s simply a learned coping mechanism for dealing with deeper issues, mainly different fears, such as fear of judgment, fear of disapproval, fear of failure, and so on.

There are always activities that we willingly dive into with enthusiasm.Habits are learned when an activity is instantly followed by a reward. Procrastination is rewarding because it provides temporary relief from our stress and anxiety. We use procrastination to achieve 3 things:<ul><li>Express resentment or resistance toward authorities and our sense of powerlessness.</li><li>Avoid the fear of failure or disappointment, which often comes from perfectionism and self-criticism.</li><li>Avoid our fear of success.</li></ul>

No one is an absolute procrastinator

“If early training has caused you to associate work with pain and humiliation, then just approaching an intimidating or unpleasant task can bring on a reliving of criticism, not only from your current boss but from parents, previous bosses, and teachers. Every insecurity bubbles up to your consciousness as you think about working on some project you feel you’re no good at. Pain, resentment, hurt, and fear of failure have become associated with certain kinds of tasks.”

The easiest way to procrastinate less and boost productivity is to keep a log of how you spend your time. So for a few days, simply record exactly how you’re spending every minute of your day. This will alert you to many areas of inefficiency and lost time.

When you catch yourself worrying, prepare yourself for that danger. Once you know you’re ready for the worst-case scenario, you’ll calm down and be able to get to work.Consider these questions:<ul><li>What is the worst that could happen?</li><li>What would I do if the worst really happened?</li><li>How would I lessen the pain and get on with as much happiness as possible if the worst did occur?</li><li>What alternatives would I have?</li><li>What can I do now to lessen the probability of this dreaded event occurring?</li><li>Is there anything I can do now to increase my chances of achieving my goal?</li></ul>

Use worrisome thoughts as action triggers

We are more likely to be productive when we can anticipate pleasure and success rather than isolation and anxiety in our work.To minimize procrastination, structure your rewards such that you will be motivated to start on the task each day.Enjoying guilt-free play is part of a cycle that will lead you to higher levels of quality, creative work. Schedule for guilt-free play. This will give you a sense of freedom over your life and will allow you to settle more easily into short and focused periods of quality work.

The self-talk of procrastinators suggests and reinforces feelings of burden, victimhood, and resistance to authority. Learning to challenge and replace negative internal dialogue helps you free yourself from attitudes that may currently be holding you back.<ul><li>Replace ‘I have to’ with 'I choose to.’</li><li>Replace ‘I must finish’ with ‘When can I start?’</li><li>Replace ‘This project is so big and important” with ‘I can take one small step.’</li><li>Replace ‘I must be perfect’ with ‘I can be perfectly human.’</li><li>Replace ‘I don’t have time to play’ with 'I must take time to play.’</li></ul>

Change how you talk to yourself

It is a time-planning method developed to tackle many procrastination-related problems.Instead of scheduling the very thing you’re procrastinating on (work), you first schedule fixed commitments (e.g., meals, commute, sleep), self-care activities (e.g., meditation, exercise), and guilt-free play (e.g., socializing, hobbies). In fact, you never even schedule work. It only goes on your schedule once you’ve spent at least 30 minutes of focused, quality time working. And it only happens in-between fixed commitments, self-care activities, and play.

When we start the application, we will want to greet the user with a login page. On this screen, user will be able to perform two actions: logging in and signing up. This is how I designed my login page:

Main Activity

Many users ask, “how do we save the user information locally so that the information stays even after the App has been closed?” the answer is file. Using file component, we can save the data locally, and retrieve it next time the App starts. Start by adding a new file component in Signupactivity.Java:.

Here is the logic for the Login_Button clicked event:. If the user enters the Username/Password, validate the length. If they’re both greater than 0, we want to retrieve the information from the data we previously saved. If valid, log the user in, otherwise show an error message.

Last but not least, this is the screen that shows up when the login is complete. Pretty simple right? Even though I didn’t apply this concept, you could possibly pass the username through the Intent if you’d like and welcome the user with the message “Welcome username!”. Just a thought :-)&nbsp;

Today, we’ll learn how to create a basic username/password login system on Sketchware.

In a time where we are constantly bombarded with notifications and screens are always screaming for our attention, sticking to more than a few apps to use daily on your phone is a recipe for getting lost, losing your focus, and forgetting what you were going to do when you opened your phone.

The KISS Principle: Keep It Simple Stupid

<a href="https://ticktick.com/">TickTick</a> is a to-do app that comes with a great built-in calendar function along with other features like smart lists and tags.For me, it’s crucial to have an overview of my week any day, any time. I can shuffle things around and see what things I’m behind on.I also love to be able to see everything I have accomplished so far this week, with the “Show completed” option.

<a href="https://www.notion.so/">Notion</a> is a very powerful all-in-one workspace for notes, tasks, wikis. It is extremely broad with probably over 100 features, so I will not go over all of them here. I use something like 5% of the app, as I like to keep it simple. I use Notion to structure all my ideas, not for writing anything concrete.

I have written about <a href="https://selfcontrolapp.com/">SelfControl</a> many times before. I use it primarily to block youtube access from my computer. All you have to do is download it, add youtube to the blacklist, set a timer duration, and click on Start. You won’t have access to youtube until the timer expires. Even if you quit the app. Even if you restart your computer.

<a href="https://getpocket.com/">Pocket</a> is a service that lets you save articles from the internet to read them later. Install the browser add-on, and click on its icon every time you want to save something for later. I consider it a productivity app because reading is part of the work I owe myself, whether for writing or for self-improvement.

I use this app to wake up between 6 and 6:30 am every day. It’s really just an alarm clock app, which does the job and doesn’t have ads. The number one reason I chose this is the crescendo option. The ringtone slowly builds up to full volume instead of blasting right away.
