The point of success isn’t success for success’s sake.

When you climb that ladder and you get to the top. You can take a moment to enjoy the view but you must be principally concerned to throw the ladder down back for people coming behind you. There’s no point being the first if we’re also the last.

3 Ways To Lift Others Up

  1. Question your surroundings : Do you see women, people with disabilities. Focus on who’s around you and more importantly who isn’t. Talk about discrepancies. Speak Up.
  2. Sponsorship > Mentorship: Mentorship is making a connection giving them advice. Sponsorship is using your privilege and powers to give someone opportunities who’s traditionally been excluded.
  3. Pass on the chance for glory: The next time you are asked to do a panel consider offering your seat who also has own imaginative ideas which might be overlooked because of gender and disability. Pass on your institutional knowledge.
