Democracy as a cathartic ritual

Democracy as a cathartic ritual

Democracy could be seen as a rational method to elect our leaders. However, a more cynical Girardian interpretation could be that:

Elections are a ritual through which we come together to express our frustration towards the current administration. A cathartic symbolic sacrifice of old leaders, similar in spirit to the tribal sacrifices of our past.

ex: In the 2020, one could say Trump lost the election more than Biden won them.
