4 things bungee jumping can teach you about life
A few months ago, I bungee jumped off the 128 meter Victoria Falls bridge and plummeted towards the crocodile-infested Zambezi river below. It was one of the most thrilling and exhilarating experiences in my life. Looking back on it, my bungee jumping experience taught me 4 things about life.

4 Lessons From Bungee Jumping

4 Lessons From Bungee Jumping
  1. Don’t overthink before deciding: On bungee jumping, the longer you wait to jump, the more you make excuses and convince yourself to back out.
  2. Live in the moment: Left hanging in mid-air while they pull you back up is an euphoric moment followed by feelings of peace and calm that you can appreciate because you are then living in the moment.
  3. Face your fears: you jump despite the fear and in the end you feel empowered and a sense of accomplishment.
  4. Have faith that things will work out: people die bungee jumping but faith the cord won’t snap keeps people jumping regardless.

The Process of Self-Reflection

  • STOP: Take a step back from life or a particular situation.
  • LOOK: Identify and get perspective on what you notice and see.

We see things differently

We see things differently

Two people can look at the exact same situation and see it completely differently.

We see life as we are, not as it is

There is no objective reality when it comes to people.

Facts may be facts, but our viewpoint and our vantage point impact our ability to process the facts. We look at life through our own personal filters, our own past experiences, beliefs, and paradigms.

Giving in relationships

If you do something for someone just because they did it for you or you want something back, you are doing business, not kindness.

If you choose to give 300 percent, then go for it, regardless of what others give you in return.
